Autumn is a great time for kayaking in Adelaide. There is still plenty of sunshine around, the water is still warm and the dolphins are very active!
In recent kayak tours of the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary we have been treated to some of the best dolphin interactions of the season. The Dolphin Sanctuary is such a special place and kayaks are the best way to explore this area and experience the dolphins.
These images show the kayakers with the mother and baby dolphins called Wave and Tallula. Tallula is actually a male. These dolphins were very badly injured recently the cause still unknown. Large burns appeared on their backs and it was feared they would both die. They are both now well on the way to recovery and seemed pleased to swim around the kayaks along with several others. A great morning on the water!
I have been inspired by my time on the river with Adventure Kayaking's great team. After a lot of research and advice from Phil I now have my own Hurricane Tampico 140L... Best decision for me. My maiden voyage in my own kayak... forgot the paddle, at least it was practice for loading and off loading to the water, got the paddle and best day ever.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Phil, I look forward to seeing you out on the water.
