Mountain Designs Adventure Race

Adventure Kayaking SA assisted with the Mountain Designs Adventure race held on the lower Fleurieu Peninsula in August by supplying kayaks and advice. It was a wild wintery weekend but the race was a huge success. The organisers from In-2-Adventure were super impressed with this part of SA, the professional assistance from Adventure Kayaking SA and are looking forward to next years event!

Tahe Marine kayaks to arrive early September

Adventure Kayaking SA is branching out...we are importing super high quality fibreglass and plastic kayaks from Tahe Marine in Europe. We were offered a great deal through Expedition Kayaks (Sydney) with Tahe who are keen to have a national distribution network throughout Australia. They have chosen to use kayak businesses that offer high quality instructional services so customers can have the best service...buy a sensational kayak and geet great instruction on how to paddle it.

Adventure Kayaking SA first and foremost is a kayak touring and instruction business but when I was shown the deal and could see that I was able to offer paddlers in SA these superb kayaks at incredible prices I couldn't turn it down.
We are expecting the first shipment to arrive early in September and will be organising a "Demo Day" for paddlers to come and try the kayaks soon after. Full details will soon be appearing on our website.

Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard tour to feature on Getaway

On Thursday 19th August our Adventure Tour of the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary will feature again on Getaway. We had a lot of fun with presenter, Jason, on this shoot. It was great weather and the dolphins this time sowed up for the cameras!

St Ignatius College gets great instruction from AKSA

Adventure Kayaking are the kayaking experts. St Ignatius College students had a great time learning about all the kayaking safety and skills in their Yr.12 Physical Education SACE kayaking unit with us. Not only did they develop a high level of kayaking proficiency but they found the warm waters of the Dolphin Sanctuary a great place to learn...especially when the dolphin came to watch the kayaking fun! The AKSA SACE course has been developed to make the learning of kayaking both fun and engaging with a blend of technical instruction, environmental exploration and cooperative challenges. We were super impressed with the high standards that the students achieved!

Truley Tribal has a Kayaking Adventure

While the gang from Michigan State Uni were touring South Australia with Truly Tribal Tours and Charter they were able to join us for a great kayaking adventure in the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary. The Sanctuary really turned it on for our American visitors with great dolphin interactions, including a mother and baby swimming under the kayaks. We also ventured deep into the forest which was an environment that this group had not experienced before…a brilliant adventure in the heart of Adelaide that they will not forget! Thanks Flick from Truly Tribal for selecting Adventure Kayaking SA to share a real adventure with your clients.

Kayakers lost in forest for 3 hours!

Well not quite...kayakers lose themselves in the beauty of the Barker Inlet wetlands. Our Adventure Kayaking VIP exploration of the mangrove forest was in near perfect conditions. It is hard to believe that just 20 minutes from Adelaide you can feel as if you are a million miles away, totally lost in another world. You really have to paddle the small winding mangrove creeks while enjoying the bird life and stillness and not knowing what will be around the next bend to fully appreciate this true adventure. For those who missed out we will be offering this tour regularly over the next 12 months…when the tide is right.

This was the first of our VIP tours. These tours will only be advertised to those who have registered through our website to be our Very Important Paddlers. We aim to offer VIP tours monthly. These tours will explore the many beautiful environments accessible to kayakers near to Adelaide and will also include overnight and multi-day experiences.

Thanks to Julie, Nathan, Steve and Sue for becoming the first AKSA VIP's on the water! See you next time.

Phil of Adventure Kayaking shows some unique skills and attire!

On a recent sea kayaking training course Phil Doddridge, owner of Adventure Kayaking, demonstrated some unique Greenland kayak rolling and supporting techniques. Being a keen sea kayaker Phil has an interest in the origins of this activity and exploring the amazing acrobatic feats developed by the Inuit peoples of the Artic regions (Eskimos). Dressed in a traditional style paddling top known as a tuilik and a striking black Tahe Marine Greenland kayak Phil demonstrated many traditional ways to recover from a capsize and gave instruction on eskimo rolling in general. You can learn to eskimo roll too and other advanced skills from Phil in our private instructional sessions. See index on our website.
